ever wonder why we must charge new batteries about 8 hours first before we can use? i thought prolong charging will spoil the battery? any logic behind this?
To test yr patient and make you so wanting to use it that u in turn treasure it
Seriously, actually this only applies for Ni-MH batteries. Now Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are nearly extinct. Now it's nearly all Li-ion batteries and Li-ion batteries does not need to be charged for 8 hours during the first charge. But I dunno why manufacturers still insist on you charging 8 hours for the first time.
One thing about Li-ion batteries though. Try not to drain your Li-ion battery all the time. It's bad for the battery's health. And once it's totally drained, get it recharged ASAP; don't leave it empty for too long.
And the best way to store Li-ion batteries are prolonged period of time is to discharge the Li-ion battery to about 40% charge left inside it and chuck it into a freezer. Don't store it 100% fully charged; you are doing it more harm instead.
At least this was what I was told on Wikipedia.
