Hi everyone,
just got my salary, thought of buying a digital cam. Never have one before. Not sure which one to buy. what kind of buget do u all set while buying for a d.cam?
it all depends on what you use the digital cam for..
if you're using it for some high-end stuff then probably the higher mp is impt but otherwise a 4 - 5 mp would do just fine..
-brand (Nikon, Canon, Sony and others)
-pixels? 8.1 like quite cheap
-HD photos/video
-weight/form, portable?
there's an olympus camera out there that is anti drop and can submerge in water one. i wanna get that one.

so that means when you snap pics in the rain, the cam won't spoil rite since it can be submerged in the water..
ya
Pixel count is overrated - if all you want to do is print your standard-sized photos, 2 megapixels is enough resolution. On the other hand, high resolution can make up for a lack of zoom.
For starters, I'd recommend something with manual functions alongside full-auto - if you do decide to get more into photography, you can learn to manually adjust shutter speed and aperture. Image stabilisation is fairly common these days, and it's handy. Something with a fair amount of optical zoom (at least 6X) will also be handy - forget digital zoom because it only creates crap pictures. If it takes AA batteries, all the better - you don't want to run out of juice halfway with nothing to replace some gollywog rechargeable.
Have a look at Canon's Powershot A-series (e.g. A650, A720) - they're good beginners' cameras.

being able to be submerged in water and being able to take rain are 2 different things.
