I was on bus number 22 and I came across this little boy who is definitely 12yo or younger. I would guess he's 9 or 10 years old.
What surprised me the most is that he is mentally ill! I wonder does his parents know about it. And if they know, why was he travelling alone?
I thought he was talking on the phone at first. Then I realised he wasn't holding a mobile phone. Then I tried to convince myself that he has a bluetooth headset on the ear that I couldn't see. But I can't help but notice his topics are repeated over and over again. For the whole journey of about an hour, his topic revolved around money, friends, fights, going to see satan and going to hell and other things that I couldn't catch.
I can't think of what kind of stress pushed this kid to the breaking point. His chinese is good (I mean his pronunciation), so this lead me to believe that he couldn't possibly be that bad in school after all.
What kind of stress could it be? Family problems? Stress in school? Or a combination of both? Is our education system and society to be blamed?
I think that boy really needs someone to talk to about his probs (if any)..
no one is to blame one
all of us got stress one!!!!

Prolly stress from parents to excel in school? Singaporean kids are famous for that. i think singapore has one of the highest rates of suicide cases among youth because of stress in school?

Talking about suicidal students, I remember clearly a girl from my sec sch last time jumped down from a block of flats opposite our school and died on the spot. Rumoured to be because guys in her class always bully her. ![]()

After some recalling, he was talking about money and he said his friend is a "lanjiao lang". His friend probably borrowed money from him and didn't return.
He was also saying he wants to go out to enjoy and have fun and he wants a lot of money. I wonder what is his definition of "enjoy".

I have to agree parents nowadays are pushing their kids to the limit. I'm not sure about other parents though, but mine is pushing me like hell. No matter how hard I did, it will never please them. So what I'm the top in class? So what I'm the top in term of subjects? So what I've receive so many awards and good remarks testimonials?
Parents are pretty hard to please nowadays.
Perhaps, parents are the driving stress to their childs nowadays? Not really. We need to factor in the school work. No offence but in my view, everything is moving hella fast in school. You can't afford to miss one lesson, otherwise you will be having a hard time catching up. Perhaps school also plays a part in driving stress to kids?
I also have stress.
Last night I have a weird dream.
I think I went to Beirut.
It was strange.
