Hello, i was wondering anybody here ever bought stuff online before?
Well you see, the reason i am asking this is because i once bought books from amazon Uk before. When the package arrived in singapore, I received a letter from the post office calling me to go down to their main office to collect the package. To my suprise, the package is opened. So my question is do the singapore custom opens up the package to screen the stuff inside? If not, why would the package be opened?
Thank you.

I bough things from amazon US before.
From what I understand...Singapore customs have the right to open up any packages that they think has something illegal inside...X-ray cannot see properly...etc...For ur case...since its books...then maybe they wanted to check on the titles of the books that U are bringing in..most likely paperwork in declaring content wasnt very well done...or maybe U kenna random check...1001 reasons lor...
By the way...what makes U so sure its the customs people that opened up ur package? It could be a simple case of the packaging giving way during transportation...![]()
yes, they do open to check sometimes.
you are living in a country that censors everthing so customs will check what kind of book you are importing
they have the rights to open
Shopping online are for those lazy or no time pples, it better to shop live on. And for some, they just want to follow the trend and be sophiscated or so call higher breed creature.
I still prefer to shop at bookshop or boutique, you get what you see, you get the direct service, you paid what you get and most importantly enjoy shopping.
Internet shopping should gives you a low price, cos these business people dun hv to operate shops, staffs and rental or leasing cost. Shopping in internet never really take off, cos pples still like on the street shopping, and if you need to go down to post office to collect, it not much different from shopping live on.
i used dhl or fedex...nvr had problem ![]()
