Just came back from abroad and found that my maid had absconded with her passport and work permit. I made a police report and they found out that she had left the country. I need to cancel her work permit to save my bond as well as get a new maid, but the ministry says they need to know her point of exit before they can allow me to cancel. I have spoken to the police and immigration and both say that this information cannot be released!
If they don't want to release the info, then how am I supposed to cancel the work permit? Isn't my bond in danger? By right, if you don't want to release this info, the ministry can obtain this information themselves because its all within the government, rather than make us go from department to department like a mad dog!
They are really not helpful and do they know how to handle their work properly? Are they making me get this info from another department because they are too lazy to do so? STUPID Government departments!
go maid agency?
last resort, go GRC see MP.
just follow law

Civil servants paid not enough, monotonous work, hv to curb with high inflation, where got mood to serve you.
The next step govt will do is to allow people to apply n cancel their maid permits thru internet website.
Then the civil servants get retrenched, lost their jobs and still hv to survive, so u think they got mood to help you??
LIfe is such lah in sg. govt take so much from us but when we need help, they are not helpful. Not all but many govt depts very good in playing taichi.

the way you described them huh really tell that they have bad working attitude. Whether good or no mood or bad mood, they are paid to do the job. They are just being unprofessional.
its either this or when you call govt hotlines, they keep transfering your call to another person to another person. i think its the govt version of pinball.
please head down to the nearest "meet the MP session" in your neighbourhood as soon as possible to get your problem solved.

It's red tape basically. If you have lodged a Police report, look up the investigator in-charge of the case [his name and contact number will be at the bottom left-hand corner of the report together with a contact number]. You can ask him directly yourself [although you might get the same reply] but if you do, you can tell him to liaise with MOM about your maid's mode of exit.
But from past experience, it should not be an issue lah. Either the investigator will tell you himself [you should have a right to know since you are the employer anyway], or you can try to get him to inform MOM. He should be able to do so by putting up a memo.
Hope this helps.
