  you should check out candlepower forums then (hiliariously referred to as CPF).

  I keep a surefire in my bag for emergencies, thats it.

  Appreciate the Materials used to build it... Aircraft grade Alu, etc
  
  The coatings, Military grade Hard Anodizing
  
  The Circuitry, different control modes, regulation, output control, strobing
  
  The led technology, same current/voltage but brighter, ie higher efficiency
  
  The design, unique features
  
  The lens, impact resistance, scratch resistance, clarity
  
  The Reflector, textured or smooth giving different beam profiles
  
  The bin output, the colour of the beam
  
  bla bla bla

  I collect flash lights...

  Using Surefire C2 modified to KM3 Led head for work.

  to conserve batteries and convenience, time-intensive work i use Underwater Kinetics e-Led 4 AA, (non-dive rated)

  diving i use Princeton Tec Surge with Princeton Tec 40 for back up.

  have a few Pelicans which i stopped using.

  and my first torch ...  Maglite 2AA. hehe.

  next planned purchase... Surefire E1e LED

  I got the G2 nitrolon LED once it became available as I feel the polymer body to be easier on the insides of bags and pockets. knurled aluminium is much cooler looking I have to admit.  

   

  I used to be really into this stuff but sold off everything leaving just 1 light, 1 folding knife, and 1 multitool.
