what do you think defines a great civilisation?

imo the type of government, the standard of living, the science and technology, education for every member of the society, constant innovation, a society with an attitude for individualism and inventiveness, literature an MOST importantly heavy investment in military. great civilisations have fallen prey to barbaric races because they adopted a peaceful attitude or they felt a lack of interest in conquering other lands e.g sumerians, elamites and indus people.

what do you mean by "civilisations" leh? isn't it just a convenient word tt historians use to write abt pple who actually have different cultures?
if u can convince me tt there is such a thing as a homogenous civilisation, i will answer ur question.

Why dont you read one of the books by Kishore Mahbubani, he is an excellent thinker and if you read a few articles on the internet by him you will get an idea.
Btw, according to him, Iranians consider Persian civilization to be on par with Chinese civilization but above Indian civilization since they tought Indians many things.

a great civilisation to me is a civilisation that does anything to make a big impact on the world...
i.e. ranging from science to innovation...to advancement in their building architecture...even to the marketing level...
i believe China, India and the middle eastern civilisations made the biggest of contributions to modern civilisations...a great civilisation to me is a civilisation that does anything to make a big impact on the world...
