Am curious, is a Debit Card able to function just like a Credit Card? I know that the main diff. is that Debit works by deducting the value the amount the moment it is swiped, but I'm curious why is my debit unable to work though I did a room reservation for X'mas using it, but on the actual day at the hotel, the front desk staff says its rejected? I've way more then the amount that's quoted so why is it rejected? Though I have no problems paying for dinner with it using that card.

i got one "GO" card but ok leh. what you mean by cant be used even distributed?
ya the 'go' card can't be used online. not sure abt other limitations tho. maybe the hotel u went to accepts only credit but not debit cards.
debit card's limits is how much u have in ur account, i think in your case they do not accept debit card.

cos they need it to take the an amt for security bond... abt $500... u enuff?
POSB Debit Card (Orange Colour) one works well for me.
The Nets pre-set limit is at $2,000 as the same like normal ATM card, but I think you can sign up (signature based) to $5,000 up of amount provided you have the amount inside. (correct me if i'm worng) - This card I think they charge $18/$28 per year for the fee after the 3 yrs free fee waiver promotion when you sign up for this card, it's a Master Card btw so generally it shouldn't be a problem.
So far the debit card has not given me any problem, I believe if you have any problem, you can just request a change of card via a call.
POSB GO Card (Blue Colour) is just a normal card, you also can sign and pay using this card, but the weakness of this card is that it's isn't recognised by online transactions.

Mine is UOB...and yes I've more den that...bout 12x tt amt.
Are you using the POSB GO card? That one can't be used online de. KNS.
The one in Orange can be used to make purchases online.

better check with the hotel or wat
overseas or local
i know some overseas esp ulu one
dun really accept it
