Hi everyone,
I want to develop my on-line business, i.e. consumer to consumer business.
I am not familiar with Singapore market because I am not Singaporean. I want know which online shopping website do you like?
Normally in US, Europe, ebay, amazon, etc is very popular. In China, taobao is very hot, whose annual revenue is over S$10B.
I want to know which online shopping website do you like? Do you suggest?
Thank you very much for your advice.

First of all, I think you mean business-to-consumer (b2c) business.
Second of all, I believe Singaporeans shop just about anywhere, but my feeling is that they shy away from big, established online stores like Amazon. Singapore is probably the only country where unprofessional, slipshod "blogshops" acting as mere resellers can actually turn in a profit.

Thank you for your reply.
I know your means. I said c2c as I start my business from zero and I am an ordinary consumer as well. Of course, I want to have my own business in the future.
Second, I am very strange that c2c or b2c is not popular in Singapore, compare US, Taiwan etc.
In current financial crisis, I think everybody wants to cut cost and saving money. On the other way, nobody wants to decrease their life quality. If the online shopping could give you a way to do this, why don't we choose it?
Sorry for my poor English. Thanks!
Financial crisis or not, there is always a market of avid online shoppers waiting to be tapped on. The problem is that the online business industry (more specifically, businesses who act as retailers for fashion goods, electronics and other common over-the-counter consumer products) is already horribly saturated due to its inherent low barrier-to-entry. Businesses in this sector have very few ways to differentiate, apart from pricing, branding and perhaps "value-added" customer service.
Singaporeans are by and large informed and demanding consumers.
If you want to compete successfully, do examine your business' core competencies and sustainable competitive advantages and hopefully target a very niche market that doesn't place you head-to-head with the corporate giants.

victoria's secret?
Thank you!
But which local on-line shopping website do you like? Thanks!
i tink s'poreans hardly go to local online store. if they shop online, they'll go to local blogshops/livejournal and whatnot...
if they shop online, they'll go for, say, forever21, victoria secret..that too, they have to organize sprees so that shipment is cheaper..
So, if you wanna know proper local online shopping website, everyone scratches their head. But, if you ask local blogshops, they can name at least 5 at their fingertips..

I am not sure if I understand you well.

Like LipGloSs said: "I tink s'poreans hardly go to local online store. if they shop online, they'll go to local blogshops/livejournal"
According this market research, maybe I will more focus on blogshop than ebay.
Thanks!

May I know the poplular blogshops/livejournal in Singapore? Thanks!
why don't you use the search function and trawl through the hordes of "online shopping sites" that people promote in this forum regularly, and see which one of them are actually still operating ? ...
I thought of sharing this incident which left an impressive impression of online shopping. I am not an avid online shopper, but decided to try it out one day since all my friends were doing so.
I chanced upon this website selling accessories, and one particular crystal angel bookmarker caught my eye. I shared the website with my friends and they seconded my thoughts about purchasing it for another friend whose birthday was just around the corner. We thought of surprising her by buying the gift and then sending the gift straight to her doorsteps, but we realised that we got the date wrong and by the time we made the order, it was Saturday and her birthday was on Sunday (the very next day)! To make things worse, I only made the relevant ATM transfer on Sunday morning. Even if the lady sent the parcel to my friends' place by registered mail, the parcel wouldnt arrive on time since the postoffice was closed. Anyway, (I shall quit beating ard the bush), the sweet lady made the trip all the way down to my friends place and personally delivered the bookmark. Even thought the gift was less than $20... She even attached a sweet gift tag on our behalf...This kinda touched me because she obviously went the extra mile when I told her that it would be for a friends' birthday..... =)
THis is in contrast to the many horrible stories ive heard about online shopping... Anyway, jus in case any of u are interested, i bought from this webbie online:
supercrystals.livejournal.com
I just thought tt good service ought tobe commended =)
