Hi! I am interested in learning about electronics as I am thinking of studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to begin? Any books you would like to reccomend?
ITE

you ask people any suggestions on how to begin?
dude.. ITE is the best place to learn this kind of things.
Since u have A maths
why not go Poly?

Oh. Poly seems like a good option. Btw, do you know which polytechnic is well known for engineering?
lol wrong forum dude
go homework forum
A maths can help you design circuits?
Did I miss something when I was in class? ![]()

Woopty. I thought people would post things like books about electronics and those stuff, but the thread went towards eduction. Thank you for alerting us, guinsoo.

In yahoo answers some guys said that you need higher level mathematics knowledge if you want to design circuits. ![]()

Doing A maths won't help you design circuits.
I did pure physics too, look where I ended up.
I didn't do electrical or electronics, and where possible I still shun it.![]()

A maths is not higher level mathematics, its just the 0.01 before the start of something higher.
You have hell of a long way to go, after you finish poly or jc, you've just reached the 0.11 mark.![]()

Ohh....so you looked down on ITE graduates?
You should know, even if you want to go ITE, you may not be able to be the top student there even if you tried your best.
Before you looked down upon others, please make sure that you're already standing way up there first.
Cos it's only sensible for people to look downwards when there is something to look at, otherwise it's just the same as people with low self-esteem.
People with low self-esteem look downwards too....but they are looking at nothing. ![]()

You can go to some really good overseas universities and gain better knowledge and exposure regarding electronic and electrical.
As the education in Singapore is only tailored and confined to technologies which are relevant to the job industries in Singapore, you won't be able to learn anything more to satisfy your thirst for edge-leading knowledge on electronic and electrical.
That's the only reason why you need to go overseas and study. People who doesn't have that kind of conviction when they go overseas for their studies are just plain simpleton-retards who are merely after good grades and dreaming about living a high life in their future....which of course does not exists and come true in reality.
But these people deserves to feel their lifetime of regrets and pain for their future.
You deserves a better future than them if you truely seek, desire and thirst for real knowledge in what you are interested in.
Otherwise, you should develop down the path of your interest and you will do better and feel better in your future.

lol. go read up on VHDL.
then go factory work as operator... everyday deal with circuit boards.

These days the A maths different? ![]()
I think one can design nuclear reactor if he/she takes university maths. ![]()
Add maths is to learn basic calculus and things like AP/GP, factor theorem right?
If there was anything on designing curcuits, I must have missed that class and playing pool at Marina South. ![]()

There are a few books titled Electrical Engineering
Used by NUS Year 1 engineering... in the module EG1108 I think... Very easy to score module which can get almost full marks for their mid term tests...

ITE students smarter than u. they dont ask such Qs. so if you cannot even know the answer to thisQ, you are worse than ITE students
easy way?
start learning from home and/or work that involves alot of electronic stuff...

One thing I learn from home electronics.
Never dismantle the VCR.
Putting it back is not as easy as it looks. ![]()

wahahaha...
yea you are right...since i was young, it has always been a hobby for me to dismantle things and putting them back together again...like when my brother's digitama was broken, i'd open it and try to fix it...made it work, but it looked like crap...lol
then there was one time i stuck a screw driver into a powerpoint without switching it off...i felt vibrations through my arm...sibei shiok
...lucky the vibrator got resistor or something...
go ITE study electronics engineering
ITE.
So what you got A maths? Do you think you can easily design circuits. And doing pure physics make you really understand electricity?
Is far dude. I'm in the Mechatronics department and it doesnt sounds easy as you think.
