How does bulletproof vessels work?
Always watch in tv that the police wear those green bulletproof vessels over their body. It looks something like a life jacket except that it is green in colour. Is that really how a bulletproof vessel work?
Are there other types of bulletproof vessels?
Also watch in tv shows that there is another type of bulletproof shield. It is something like the shield that anti riot police carry with them except that these vessles are metal and can be used to shield bullets.
And I heard that bulletproof vessels are not effective as it can only stop bullets from a pistol. Anymore advanced weapons than a pistol the bullet will be able to pass through the bulletproof vessels.
Is that true?
more on less yes...
try using a sniper/shortgun... even with bulletproof vessels u will die >.>
watch discovery channel programme on snipers..
there are sniper that can pierce through concrete bricks and hit watermelons behind it.. from 200m away..
you mean Bulletproof/Ballistic Vest
its VEST not vessels idiot.
1 of the basic requirement for designing a vest is that the vest must be able to spread the energy of the bullet through out the vest.
oso must depend on the calibre of the bullet.
most of them lose bulletproof when wet
VESSEL LOL
ya i think wearing a vessel as in a ship would definately block bullets =D
the empty one makes the most noise....
if you mean bulletproof vests then yes it serves to protect mainly the torso of the body.
there are currently different levels or classes of ballistic vest classification into which they are rated against protection against different threat levels, eg: pistol rounds, rifle rounds. highest rating currently is the Level IV vest designed to eliminate penetration of high powered Armour Piercing rounds into the human flesh. while at the same time it does not eliminate the shockwave arising from the impact the round creates when it hits the plate, sorta like blunt force trauma. user may still get broken ribs (if hit in the chest)
Well, the vest can only stop up to a certain velocity...

those are called riot shields, mainly from polycarbonate, mostly to protect from objects thrown towards the officers in the case of a riot. another kind is the ballistic shield, made to shield (duh) the user from low velocity rounds.

level 4 armour offers protection from high velocity rounds up to approximately 2800ft per second.

bulletproof vest will be useless when there is .50cals
Bullet-proof vest that are able to stop low-medium bullet velocity were found to be penerated by a simple knife thrust. For knife protection, you need another type of vest called the anti-stab proof vest.
Kinda interesting, a bullet proof vest is not able to stop a knife stab.

And there is various versions of bullet proof vests.
Some is thick and chunky like wearing a solid foam life jacket with metal plates inside.
Some is just like a piece of clothe vest that is coated with teflon to redirect the bullet to slide alongside the vest instead of going thru the cloth to the body.
A very very rare and expensive version is that the vest emits some kinda of radiation, that absorbs/cushion the momentum of bullet. (However, not sure its available for real yet.)
And bullet proof vessels is possible.
Like armoured cars, tanks, armoured boxes & possibly speed boats for law enforcement duties.
And yah......Submarines are kinda bullet proof. Just not torpedoe proof.
