Somewhere in 2000, it became less famous.

CJC was happening JC since the 1980s. Its students were clubgoers and partyers.

guess is becos most of them come from wealthy families, from convent, boys' schools.

In those times, going to CJC means having fun. And CJC's image was (is?) well known since those days even among teachers among other schools and parents. My uncle's daughter finished her O levels in 1996 and got CJC, but her father did not want her to go there becos of the supposed "loose" image. Think in the end she appealed and got inti another JC .
I like their uniform
Not only CJC , a number of sec schools in the 1990s were famous for "partygoer and fun" image. The difference is it was more "happening" in those days than now, u will not believe it. Studying was not so stressful and they had lot more free time to do these things like gangs gor sam sia, german angels(?) , AST, black roses girl gang.
But there was no youtube or blogs in those days to publicise things. But definetely i can say it was more things going on. Things spread thru word of mouth.
Now it is youtube and blogs which actually publicize these things as "more happening" now but in fact they may not be as happening.
i dont find nowadays some 13 year olds beating up a 9 year old captured on mobile or the Tammy F5cking a guy interesting. last time it was someone cut by parang or beaten up by a gang and died. . These things were around for a long time since the last 2 decades, and they just get sensationalisd now due to the internet.
