Well it depends...Ifs its very different then it will be bounced...But eg... your name is Tan Lee Lim Steven and the name appear on the Cheque is Steven Tan it will still be cleared

if there is a spelling error, then it will be bounced...
e.g. ur name = Janet Tan, cheque wrote = Jacet Tan
if it just showed ur chinese name instead of full name, it will still be cleared... e.g. ur name = Tan Ah Kow Jacky, cheque wrote = Tan Ah Kow
... Why different in the first place? Just write your name and contact there and drop in the box lor. If not, play safe and bank in personally. If fails, ask your company to write you a new one lor.
Just make sure your bank a/c number is not wrong can liao.
If bounce, its the company that has to pay the penalties.

that should not happen. Unless its because TS gave fake name to HR Dept.
But otherwise, if the HR dept was issued with copies of TS's bank book & NRIC, then its either the HR dept staff that wrote the cheque has to pay the penalty thru his/her paycheck.
You should have bounced it back to Accounts when you received it. Why let the bank bounce it
