I think people are more neutral, not hate, but not particularly love either. I get the impression that it's just a stop-over point, i guess i feel this way because I always get asked by locals what the heck i'm doing in Singapore when i could be abroad. But i guess it's mostly who you meet right?
There are things about Singapore that I love, and likewise, things that I hate. However, at the end of the day, Singapore is still my homeland.
I've lived in Melbourne for almost three years now and I think that no matter where you migrate to, any place will have its charms and also factors that grate on your nerves. The important thing is to establish what's important to you, and for some of us, it takes a few hard knocks before we finally realise the things that are truly valuable to us.
The government of every country determines the political, economic and social stability as well as the wealth and lifestyle of its citizens. I think in terms of infrastructure, utilities, public transport, healthcare, education, personal income taxation and housing ownership, Singapore fares very well.
Strange that there are people who are so determined to focus on the ugly side of Singapore that they become extremists. I wonder how well this group of people will actually survive overseas.
I'm sure it won't take them long to find something, anything, to whinge about as well! ![]()
There are some people who just can never be pleased, no matter what. These people are just determined to be unhappy. ![]()
I love Singapore, not least because Singaporeans are smart people.

Be prepared to be forced to buy the annuity - your paid pension.
the ruling party is enjoying pension from the money by taxpayers whereas the commoners are to pay for their own pension.
