actually, come to think of it... lightning strike = the era of chee soon juan coming! right? andrewpkyap?
actually singapore has the highest frequency of lightning strikes. machiam strike so many times, sure got one will hit the merlion.
i mean, if u are as tall as the merlion and stand there long enough at the same place, you will also get struck by lightning what. it's not a matter of if but when.

The Merlion is standing and functioning well after strike by lightning. As an old chinese saying goes something auspicious is coming.

I would think that 90% of the chinese in Singapore believe that the lightning strike is "a bad omen", "a curse", and worse.
Propaganda statement like those in this thread will not change the belief and instead only reinforces it.

cuz the tall buildings are not anywhere near the merlion. If the merlion is standing next to a tall building, it will hit the tall building instead. If there is no merlion there, but a human standing there instead, the human will be hit.
