Another student dies. Last time round is one spurned scholar, now its some foreign fella who most prob fail a module or something. Both end the same way: sky dive without parachute. Too much info in the brain and ideas above your station can kill you!
Yea... very stressed in uni .... Haiz...![]()
Yeah, uni life can be very hectic and pressurizing. But seriously, failing your final module isn't the end of the world or life.... he should have sought help before doing something so crazy.
I mean, when your peers are doing better than you, u feel lost out and during that instant, the devil will come and 'possess' you to do all the crazy stuff...
i find foreign students more emotional and genuinely affected from failing in studies than Singaporeans. For me, i would say fuck it, and repeat the module or retake exam again. For them its like the end of the world on Christmas Eve!
yeah, sadly pride has take over.
Sometimes, all it takes is just a bit of humility to ask for help.
i pity tt student who died. want to kill the prof but failed. only leaving the prof injured.. in exchange, he die horribly. sian~~
another case of
prof stealing student's research and passing off as his own
student got pissed and attempt to murder prof
murder epic fail so student have to commit harikari to preserve honour
My condolences.......

My condolences... as well.
Maybe the deceased didn't fail his module; perhaps he was not satisfied with his final year project grade or something, got obsessed about it since he has to perform well to maintain his scholarship. Thus went to the office and stab the Prof from the back..
..or he may just have some psychological and mental breakdown..
Nonetheless, all tertiary institutions should be suspended as the Professors are too traumatised..not the students.. ![]()
I don't understand why CNA is airing videos of the deceased lying at the foot of the building. It is disrespectful to the deceased, in appropriate, and extremely insensitive. It's disappointing to see that coming from CNA. Viewers to not need to see actual images and footages to understand the situation. I hope the video will be removed easily.
They are news..and news-people always gives the best and sensational information to the public.. can't blame them..

American Killer come back again ![]()
Wow! IS Singapore becoming as bad as USA!
This incident might be the next practical joke for lecturers =)
(During consultation; as a student brings out papers with questions, he might absent mindedly take out a dagger with the pencil case, then calmly re-assure the lecturer that it is NOT for him/her... yet =) )
That would go on par with the other practical joke for local teachers; especially those ones teaching Singapore politics. During lecture if the teacher mentions anything political; then suddenly Men in Riot Gear burst into the class-room to take the teacher away =)
I think the video has been removed already. I tried to click on it but it just hanged. So after CNA did give him his due respect.
Oh to Undead Gary. CNA must have taken it off. I didn't see no dead body.
walao. singapore also got this kind of thing. i hope the prof is ok
the professor is ok. He was only injured. It was only the final year student who passed away.

A421 was dispatched for this case..
Singapore's NTU stabbing incident leaves one dead and another injured

CNA
SINGAPORE: A final-year engineering student at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) jumped from a campus block after stabbing a professor on Monday morning.
The professor was in his office at the engineering faculty when the student stabbed him in the back with a knife, leaving him injured.
After stabbing the professor, the male student - who was in his 20s - slit his wrists and jumped off a five-storey building.
Police said they received a call about the incident at 10.35am, and arrived to find the student dead at the bottom of the engineering block.
Eyewitnesses had also told Channel NewsAsia that a person had been stabbed, and that a student, believed to be an Indonesian-Chinese had slit his wrists before jumping off a building.
An NTU spokesman later confirmed that a final year student from the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was involved in the stabbing.
It, however, did not name the two people involved, and only said that their next-of-kin had been notified.
The student is said to be 21-year-old David Hartanto Widjaja and the professor is believed to be Chan Kap Luk, who was left with injuries on his back and arm.
David Hartanto Widjaja was a former president of the NTU Electronic Sports Club.
Professor Chan, a Singaporean in his 40s, was sent to the National University Hospital for treatment and is said to be in a stable condition.
The professor has been with NTU's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering since June 1992.
Professor Chan, who is Deputy Director of the Biomedical Engineering Research Centre at NTU, is said to have been the supervisor of the student in a project.
NTU's president, Su Guaning, pledged to help the families of the professor and student and has mobilised its counselling professionals to help. He also said the matter will be investigated thoroughly.
"The university is deeply shocked and saddened by what has happened… The university community will rally together at this difficult time and do our utmost to help the student's family, the professor and his family, and those traumatised by the incident," added Dr Su.
Speaking to the media at the NUH in the evening, Dr Su said Professor Chan might be discharged in a few days. The stab wound in the professor's back was "deep" but no vital organs were injured. His arm was also not "too badly hurt".
It is understood that at the time of the incident, Widjaja was discussing his final-year project with Professor Chan, as he had difficulty obtaining a pass grade.
Dr Su said Widjaja was a "very good student" whose grades had slipped recently, but he was still considered above average.
Dr Su said Professor Chan had expressed regret that he could not help his student earlier.
The NTU president said he hopes to prevent such an incident from happening again. "I think it's an overall pastoral care system that is necessary. We've already set up such a thing, with the Student Affairs Office, many counsellors keeping an eye on students with problems.
"Unfortunately the student never showed that he had problems. Either he kept them within himself, or... We would like to review the system to see how we can pick out better students who have such problems, even if they don't communicate with others."
Should had finished what he started before...

How about by virtue of the fact foreign students having to give up more to study here? I know exactly how it feels to have spend so much, and with everyones' aspirations on you. For certain individuals, the experience of being in a foreign environment, the specter of failure after all the investment and sacrifices, is just at times too hard to bear.
i find many netizens are like quite young and sua gu like that...
for the older and more mature people ... this kind of stabbing incidents is quite normal...
normal in a sense that once a while... some people in singapore.. or anywhere in the world.. will be stabbed...
let me teach the newbies here some general knowledge... in england... there are more stabbing incidents carried out by teens .. besides.. there are still so many gangs in singapore.. and they like to find trouble, kill and slash people, even those that they see they dun like also kill...
it is unknown why the professor was stabbed by the particular student... all i noe that anyone of us can be a victim of stabbing incident.. even in singapore..LOW CRIME does not mean NO CRIME...
our police force has already told us before already... do.. the professor has became the latest victim.
