Why did $1.99 shop close down?

poor planning....expansion was too fast and picked expensive locations like ngee ann city...especially when each item is only 1.99..... she went for high class branding...but budget goods need budget branding....fyi, the brand is now held by creative's sim wong hoo, who paid a million bucks for it....i think the money went to charity....

i remember sim even had a experiment... he set up bazaar in creative hq to sell all the leftovers from one99, and people could pay whatever amount they wanted to pay. someone paid $20 for one piece, another paid 20cents and waited for 10cents change.
