You created an sg forum account just to show us the graffiti? Is it really in SG? Done by you?
Beware mata tangkup ah!
lol...
Nice pics anyway...
not by me but i do graffiti 2.ouh i read sum topics on sg graffiti and it really is bad when sum ppl think dat it is not an art form so let me show the real graffiti in singapore.yes we do have well known graffiti artists here and slacsatu is 1 of them.
cheers.support locals.
Wah, nice!
Singapore has got little or no room for all these talents. So sad...
Compare to other countries, we are losing out.
SG Govt... sigh...
hello i'm new here. and thanxz 4 the graffiti site.coolest.seen this slacsatu guy graffiti b4 at youth park.heard he's one of the best here.at least we wont be ashamed if ppl ask if there are graffiti in singapore.sum 'graffiti' are just not eye candy at all but this guy rocks!
yea we got limited spaces here.sucks.so mostly wo go to kl or indo to meet and do graffiti there.and slacsatu won a graffiti comp twice in KL b4 so its good exposure 4 SG graffiti.
peace.
gotta see this!
you wer there?was at werk .slacsatu was 1 of the artists doing the showcase..check out the site. www.slacsatu.deviantart.com
peace.
Another local Michael fay in the making.
Worldlybusinessman, i dont think you can compare any Mr Slacsatu aesthetical artwork with Michael Fay's junk. I see that he is contributing to the art scene in Singapore. At least he is using the spraycans to create something wonderful for our eyes to see rather than abusing it. Bravo to this guy, we definitely need more talent like this. Michael Fay is pure bulls**t.

cant u take jokes?
haha. It doesnt seems to be a joke to me. Or at least u've tried but it didnt came out that way.
You can do graffitti at the skate parks
His work is very nice. I truly applaud this movement in the local arts scene. :D However, I can't help but feel that his graffiti is a bit.... fake. Yes it looks wonderful. I am an artist myself and appreciate his technical skills. But graffiti that is 'allowed' is kind of not real graffiti in my opinion. He has no message, and does not utilize the environment fully (although this is partly because he is confined to 'allowed' surfaces and cannot fully exploit 'forbidden territory'). Imo, even though his pieces are more developed and finished, he isn't as successful of a graffiti artist as someone like Banksy (www.banksy.co.uk), who actually uses his trade name for identity protection not just as a fancy 'graffiti artist's thing', and paints on things that shouldn't be painted on, to leave a message. He does his work discretely, often hiding from cops, in order to fulfil his purpose.
This is one of Banksy's images, as an example:

Slacsatu has plenty of skills but not nearly enough spirit.
Then again, Singapore's buildings are so nice, we wouldn't want them to be 'spoiled' would we..... lol.
i disagree.slacsatu was born doing illegal here in sg.and he had paid his dues.i dont think he is stupid enuff to disrupt his reputation over here in singapore FINE city.tell banksy to come here and try do all his stuffs if he dares. im sure if slacsatu goes out of this country, he will go all ghetto crazy too!definitely not a soft graffiti person.you do not know his other name do u?dats why....haha
btw its singapore.wat do u expect?
btw skateparks and nyc walls are no longer free for self expression coz of artists doing not fake graffiti.haha .that is why the walls there are white as ghost now. even famous artist twice b4 coming to singapore.there's a reason why sg graff artist are respected internationally.coz we keep it alive here out of all odds.
think twice*
i was also part of the early graffiti scene in the late 90's to early 2000s..was with OAC, then with D.Funkt and ended my graffiti "career" with ESC (Elastic Shanks Crew)..Glad to know that somehow Graffiti is embraced by the society at least when given the permission of course. Back when i was in OAC, quite alot of were commissioned works and we had to follow their guidelines and directions beating the purpose of graffiti = creativity and movement..nice work TS, can see your more into murals and still art while i'm more of a tagger..
i envy slacsatu's work.if he can do all this with spray paints, then he is god.i'm sure if we put all the fame away and put banksy and slacsatu in a competition,we know who will be on top.congratz. its a too different world out there compared to singapore. peace.
oh and thanxz for posting the pics again achilles.cheers.
I have to disagree with Vaor's opinion. Graffiti writing and Graffiti stencils are two different things. While Graffiti writers communicates thru' the "style of lettering" with nothing but their spraycans and markers, Graffiti stencils are just cut-out images which is then sprayed upon surfaces then.
Imo, unlike stencils, public cant really comprehend what writers are trying to say in their works unless it is accompanied by a theme. Stencils on the other hands are much well understandable because of its "image" that people can easily relate to and hence, the message.
Sometimes i cant help to think that Banky's are overly-rated or maybe people are highly-overrating him. I dont think you can compare both of their spirit because they are of different categories.
Be it legalwise or not, Graffiti is still Graffiti if u are still using aerosol as a medium - with or without messages. If you think Slacsatu's artwork didnt have messages in them then i strongly urge you to visit his deviantart. Here are some examples which i found rather thought-thinking.
