Get a single, because easier to buy bedsheets and mattress proctector.
Make sure the mattress is really hard, cos you can soften it with a layers of comforter.
The hard mattress is also better for your spine.
I prefer the Seahorse brand, cos they have really cheap at most $150 foam mattress that works well enough on cheap store bought wooden bed. Avoid Ikea ones.
BTW, those fake leather wrapped headboards and duvets are expensive and useless because you cannot vacumn or sweep under the bed to get rid of dust easily.
And scratches can make your fake leather tear off and leave gaping tear holes for everyone to see.
