Hello friends! I do not wish to cause any offence, was made angry by noisy neghbours and was thinking of going over to yell loudly with all manner of insults and slurs. But i've calmed down now and i am just wondering what are some uncommon insults in Singapore?
Also is anyone familiar with the word Wog? Just yes or no 1st, don't check the dictionary and then answer.
Anyone ever had noisy neighbours? I.e. really loud techno music or barking dogs that keep barking 24/7? How do you deal with those situations here?
Cheers
Wog. Whats Wog?
uncommon insults? how about just calling them lame
dun have, peaceful
I have. ![]()
Besides my apartment, there is a family with 4 childrens,
They're all studying primary school. But you can hear them shouting and screaming among themselves. Break this, crying. Buey tahan.
Another is, My apartment 1 level up,
I live in the 8th floor, so in the 9th floor.
There's a couple with new born babies.
The baby never ever stop crying, it will just ' ji ' and cry all long.
And it screams and cry. You hear already also got phobia of having childrens next time. ![]()
I don't really go and scold / insult them,
Like, if i scold the my neighbours, i think.. ' We're neighbours mah, why make it so difficult?'
I'll just have a talk with them when there's chance if we're taking the same lift.
No point scolding the apartment above,
And babies cry very very randomly.
I bet the couple are more stressed than trying to stop the crying and screaming.
hope that helps.
chill

They are of a certain skin colour issit if you wanna call them Wogs
Depends on the circle of friends and how exposed they are to the word
Yes I know what is Wog
Your neighbour listen really loud music for very long time?
Skarli im ur neighbour
. So what u can do is to on some music louder than ur neighbours.![]()
Barking dogs to me you cannot do any thing. I dun tink your neighbours wont stop the dog from barking also if he/she have the ability to
ANyway, there is this 'tolerance level' thing i read in another forums, like for loud music, as long as not in 1am or 2 am, or continuous for few hours should be fine lor
Dun keep complaining also, never know when u need ur neighbours for help
lol maintain neighbourly love lo
they blast, you blast back.
simple.
of course, make sure your speakers can overpower theirs without blowing up.
if not just tolerate.
wads wog?toleration is a virtue.never burn ur bridges cos u nvr know when u need them.

Yes, What is Wog. ![]()
A wog is a derogatory term for a Greek or Italian person. It's Australian slang; don't think I've ever heard it being used in Singapore.

The flat opp mine has a yippidy small dog. From morning until night, nonstop yipping. Not barking but sound like a screw driver jammed into it ass.
So far, I can still hear, wonder how the neighbours up, down, left, right can tehan....
Umm people, here's the explanation from Collins Cobuild:
Wog is an extremely offensive word for anyone whose skin is not white.
Great answers. Lately i have discovered it's much better to not really let noisy neighbours make you angry, because i get headaches after i tell them off. So even though they shut it, i still suffer from a bleeding headache at the end of it. So now adays i go out. And i express my discontent by being "diplomatically nice," sometimes the neighbours get the sarcasm but most of the time it goes over their head, but its much better than blowing up in anger.
For other people going through the same problems i would advise that. THis rings a bell to those that said use "neigbourly love" although my love would be sarcastic.
About the usage of Wog, it used to be a phrase for "western orientalized gentleman," what you might call "geh angmoh" when we found it laughable how non Europeans adopted our practices and clothing and style etc etc. That was in the colonial era. Then as globalization kicked in (much earlier and within Europe 1st among European states), we used it on other europeans who might be white.
Today it could be used to refer to peoples who are dark skinned. But not necessarily. It all depends on context. In britain long ago, we called the French wogs, then the Indians, Poles and now the Middle Easterners and Muslim Britains (although it is not allowed today; hence why Asia seems to be the place where there is no constitutional ban on the insult). In Australia we called the brits wogs and poms. It has many contexts and usages.
But I use it for anyone who behaves like a twat regardless of skin colour, it has the added benefit of not being understood as a recognized slur in Singapore.
Thanks

But some neighbours were just too dense to even know you were being sarcastic to them and your sarcasm would become pointless and backfired. So, in order for them to feel your wrath you have to speak their lingo to get your point across.
I mean like your neighbours, if they are bunch of hokkien 'ping' you don't speak to them in proper comprehensible English as they wouldn't understand you or worse think that you are trying to show off your powerful language. So, you just do it the Singaporean way, :- "KNNBCCB! CHA! CHA! CHA simi lanjiao!" Crude? Yes! But definitely more effective.
1) tolerate
2) scold.
3) call mata.
4) blast music at them. and make sure its LOUD.

best is if they are other race, play indian , ah neh neh music to entertain them, ha ha ha. bagus! ha ha ha
I think we have some great solutions here, so i will just sum it all up in my post.
1) Blast them back with EMO music, make sure ur speakers can tahan and is louder than theirs.
2) Buy a bigger/louder dog, make sure ur dog barks, whine, yip, whatever sounds it makes, is louder than ur neighbours' dogs.
3) Combine ur speakers blasting music together with your dog singing nonstop. (Use with caution,u might collapse before they do)
4)Call mata if above 3 points doesnt works. (Last resort, since things could get ugly after mata comes.
