It is not really that weird. Some guys (or in some cases, their parents) want their wives to be virgins with no ex-bfs, that is why there is an increase in mail order bride.
In any cases, you can search around the forum, and you will see a lot of threads arguing about the pros and cons of having a foreign wife as compared to a local one.
By the way, in olden days, wives are choosen by parents, and weddings are planned many years ahead, so having a person whom you never seen or meet before becoming your wife isn't such a weird thing back then.

Nah i can't believe it. Not with our local boys. I think that sort of thing is more in the lesser devleoped countries and "traditional" weirdo Indian immigrants and pakistani immigrants in 1st world countries like USA and UK. Singaporean men who do this are a minority.
Wow the video showed an American muslim community playing match making games because they can't date since its taboo for their religion. Those games are So NUS and local secondary school, which is weird coz our culture is not as EXTREME as the arabs are.
Funny what you learn by watching how romance works in different cultures.

It all started with an article in the new paper about this uneducated overweight factory worker who managed to get a beautiful Vietnamese wife (who also happen to love him like fug)from a mailabride agency and takes good care of his bed ridden aging mother.....the rest is history.If this story doesnt make a grown man cry it would surely make an obese guy not want to lose a single pound.

That guy is either a really lucky guy, or there is more to him than being uneducated and overweight.
It is hard to say; some guys might be very poor or ugly, but they are WAY better than those so-called cool and handsome guys. Not that many modern women can appreciate it until it is too late.
