I don't think all events are compulsory, but you will need good reasons to avoid things like important meetings and such.
Why do you want to join SVC anyway? You can always volunteer for other groups or organisations which do not require you to put in a lot of time, especially when you want to be able to choose when you want to help out.
If you join SVC, you will have to be prepared to be more committed, and I can assure you it won't be very nice if everytime they have some volunteer work and you happen to be not free, and ended up helping out only once or so out of every 5 possible times. You will it find it embarrasing when people start asking why you are not around everytime they ask you out.
hmm,but actually, most volunteer grps require you to dedicate qte a lot of time.like Heartware Network, for example.yes,it's certainly not very nice if you miss many meetings.to join a volunteer association require a lot of commitment, can you do that?
why not you do some adhoc volunteering on your own,or with a grp of frens whenever you're free?like that, you fulfil the meaning of volunteerism and yet dont have to attach yourself to a grp.why kind of volunteering experiences are you looking for and how old are you?
