I personally think this is cool, and that there are all kinds of people in the world.
Shows that in any way you try to be a gangster, rebel, (let's say a lanjiao Singapore hardcore Ah Beng) you will definitely beg for mercy in the end.
Also, to those who stereotype Muslims for Terrorists, ill-treaters, suiciders, here's for you. Don't matter whether the robber lied about how he is poor and had to feed the family. Think about how the shopowner survive to live in his line of work.
Sorry i can't link this, anyone?

It isn't cool if you ask me. It may be out of compassion, but it is a dangerous thing to do. It is as the chinese saying goes "letting a tiger back into the mountain".
The store owner may think he has done a good deed, but he never thought about the fact that the man might rob others and harm them instead.
Nevertheless, he is a good example to those who stereotype muslims as merciless and inhumane, which is obviously far from the truth.

But still you think he is a cool/kind guy.
I cannot blame you, and neither can anyone else, since this is up to one's personal opinion, but I can assure you a lot of people will not think the same way as you do.
Being kind to crime is being unkind. Think about it.
Why not put it this way. The would-be robber might turn over a new leaf and end up saving someone else's life instead.

Sounds good. That is if you don't read up about the (Unofficial) fact that over 63% of US criminals get into some criminal trouble again after getting out of jail.

Criminals have minds that we don't really understand akin to that of a mental patients some times.
