There is a Chinese saying, a filial child is born in poor family.Recently, I read New Paper on an article about a 19-year-olds daughter taking care of her bedridden mum in a poor family.
it depend. it really does.
Rich people will hire maids and nurses to take care of their bedridden parents mah.
Also considered fillial what. ![]()
I am inclined to agree.
Not really in my opinion
Because in a rich family, the children might not have the opportunity to care for everyone in the family. The reason is because he is rich, he dont really need to look at how people live, and from there he will try to be better than the other kids to make their parents proud(That is also somewhat a form of filial piety)
However, in a poor family, the children see things from a more reality point of view, mostly from the parent's point of view, who needs to earn $$ to support the family. If a person is expose to this from young, there will be an 'understanding' that there is a need to earn cash to life. Thus, when people see that most of the time the people who are working(because the reason he or she give is to support their parents) is a poor kid, they might presume poor kids are more filial
ACtaully is depend on what the child is expose to, and how much he is exposed to what
true to a certain extent..............
In a poor family, the children don't know a better life, so they think they are stuck with being fillal
u know in dramas,
those children from rich families act fillial in hope that their parents will will their fortunes to them...

what about people
who are poor at 1st
and rich later
poor ple experienced more in life, so they treasure everything given to them.
from poor to rich, some remains humble, while some changed into some bloody hell arrogant asshole..
Hmm, I think it boils down to how close the child is to their parents.
I've got a friend also comes from a rich background, but their family very close. Kinda admire that.

true true..
i think filial children are normally born in a rich family...
not richness based on material wealth but richness based on love and understandings

Like that the person earn it...
I feel it's subjective... different parents set different goals and expectations for their children. Filial or not, the elder generation know best.
