replacement of cracked tiles

Reported 12 cracked toilet wall tiles in the 2 toilets to HDB under its 1 year warranty period.
After site inspection by HDB engineer from the Building Technology Department, it was mentioned that:
'...rectification will be carried out one toilet at a time so that your family can still use the other toilet and the rectification at each toilet to be completed within 5 working days...'
It was also confirmed that someone must be at home when the rectification work is carried out.
Do we need up to 5 workings days per toilet to change some tiles?
Is it reasonable that someone has to take up to 10 days of leave / off from work just to replace 12 pieces of cracked tiles?

Its now the school holidays.
Speak to neighbours kids or any of your young cousins and have them stay over your place for that week and provide them with internet and DVDs while the workers are working lah.

Within 5 working days mean that it will be done in 5 days at most. Usually such stuff shouldn't take more than 3 days though.
They might have to ( and probably will ) take down some of the tiles around the 12 tiles, so it will take some time. Also, the 5 days will also include them having to come back to check if the new tiles are properly in place or not.
Viciouskitty has given you a good idea, though you will also need to lock up your valuables and not leave them around the place.

Surprisingly, if you apply for passport online, do everything sui sui, less than 3 days can collect le, like me.

What about the remaining family members living under the same roof? Are they able to watch over the repair works either by taking turns to apply leave or is there any one not working currently?
