ICA officers, although they decide whether to let a person enter Singapore without troubles or simply give them shit for that.
I've seen many cases, ICA officers raising voices against asian seafarers, no they do not do that to angmohs unless they are from eastern european countries.
Some of the things I've heard
"You come singapore for what?" - harsh tone
"Why your passport got staple? You know I can reject your entry right? Tell me why!" - arrogant and angry tone
"Show me your boarding pass!" - demanding
Once, this indonesian seafarer was first time in Singapore, something happened with the clearance and this plain-clothed ICA officer came out. He was asking questions to the seaman like a CID would to a criminal.
Imagine, first contact at Changi Airport are SATs/CIAs staff who already half the time are not doing their job, next point are the ICA officers where they abuse their powers?
No wonder, Changi Aiport is slipping behind..

Agree completely. If you arrive legitimately from a country that doesn't require a visa then there's no need to be rude.
It's a bit like the judges in American Idol v. Signapore idol. American idol you get Simon Cowell being brutal but honest because he knows the business. Singapore Idol you get Dick Lee trying to emulate Simon Cowell, but ending up nothing but a rude prick. Heathrow Airport you get asked hard questions in order to see how you handle them or if you give anything away. Singapore Airport you get rude immigration officers belittling passengers from *fellow Asean countries that are supposedly able to travel freely*.

Sorry bout the outburst, but thank god for this thread.. I went overseas recently last week and twice i encounter such unfriendly officers.. KNN..
The first one was gg in.. I went in early in the morning then the automatic counters were not in used at the moment so I went to the officers lor.. I merely looked away forawhile and scratch my nose and the officer said harshly to me to look at him and put my hand away.. I was taken aback.. I don't mind the security procedures and the need to look at my face for proper ID but pls, I'm not a soldier under your command.. Can say in a nicer way mah.. Knn early morning spoil my holiday mood.. Then when coming back, I went through the passport clearance again.. This time it was a lady.. I have a tendency to look elsewhere and get distracted for awhile.. Kana scold again.. It was so harsh, I was taken aback again that I blurted out a sorry immediately.. Then I realize wtf I say sorry for... knn.. seriously whats up with the fucking attitude.. DULAN.. the officers at the scanning machines are nicer.. the officers at the passport clearance are fucked up.. like go to work deprived of sex the night before by their spouses.. knn.. SERVICE QUALITY LEH WAKE UP IDIOTS.. -

This I have noticed for quite sometime and of course the toliet is not that clean but now I see toilet cleaners dress up like penguins and keeping them clean at all times.

Singlish is not an English dialect but a language by itself.I would like to believe that Singaporeans do speak standard English when speaking to other speakers of English.To be fair we cant expect everyone to change their accent to tune with whoever they are speaking to.Standard English is what is required and nothing more.

No lor, i go hong kong and when i return home to singapore very heart warming le. The ICA very nice says things like welcome home very warm feeling. But their travellator really need to change, the handrail some rubber thing break off le at Terminal 1 or maybe because it is still under upgrading...
