and from what i know, if you wanna study japanese, you’ve gotta study it for a few years just so you would be able to progress from elementary to intermediate, even long from intermediate to advance. yes, no?
yea, it takes ages. but i think its fun!
wouldn't say the 3 alphabet systems are a cinch to get tho.. took me ages to memorise the hiragana and katakana.. even now im not too good at reading them ^^
kanji's pretty easy, cos it's traditional chinese. buts, the but is, the same characters thats shared by kanji and mandarin may have different meanings..

If you really want to learn these languages, I am pretty sure that there are a lot of courses being offered for them locally; if you would just search online for the related education groups/companies.
There are definitely both part-time and full-time courses, and it is up to your own personal preference and time limitations to take up which one.
On the otherhand, these kind of certs will not really help you out if you are not taking up a language/communication/teaching related job.
why would French being the most useful foreign language?
To answer TS question on which foreign language to learn depend on which region you want to work in.
if you learn Japanese and not working in Japan than the language you learned u forget easily.
I personnally find Spanish is probably more useful for 1 reason.
It is true that there are 350 million spanish speaker but unfortunately economically they are not considered that the top.
But Spanish language allow you to branch off to Portugese and Italian because of its common root.
think about it.

same logic
learning Hindi allow you to branch off to Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi, Bihari, Maithili, Nepali, and even Oriya, Bengali, Assamese and even the Dardic languages

Cuz they are both romance languages....... together with Italian, Portuguese. To some extent in similarity, etc. grammar.
Pronounciation wise not really so ba. I find French difficult to pronounce. And different from Spanish.

the report are probably more politically correct to highlight the numbers. But if you look at the similarity of the language between spanish and portuguese it shows slight marginal differences in spelling and pronunication.
Let me take a superficial example:
French would be the most useful -- English
