i am just wondering and need answers. for a girl who was in express stream in sec sch and just finished her O levels , who enter poly at the age of 17, and completed her diploma in say 3 years, does she apply for university on the year she graduate from her diploma? how old will she be when she starts her university education if assuming she goes straight from poly to uni without working a year or so. thanks for clearing my doubt.
approx 23?

A student entering poly at the age of 17 will enter Uni at the age of 20. Application to uni by poly students is by using their 1st 5 semester results for application since the final sem results will not be out before application date closes. This allows them to enter uni the year they graduate rather than waiting for another year.
Depends? Some courses or school allow direct entry to the 2nd year of study for poly graduates. while some offers subject exemptions which may be equivalent to 1 semester of study.
Some courses would allow you to jump directly into 2nd year but this is also heavily dependent on the type of course you would dlike to pursue, how well your GPA is & also if there are any corresponding modules you have taken so that you could skip year 1.
From what I know, it is easier to jump into year 2 if you're in an engineering field as opposed to business field (which would mean you have to take year 1).
In this case, you would graduate when you're 23 with a basic degree.
you apply for uni when you are in your third year. There is an application date you just apply. You will graduate at age 19, so you will start your uni at 20-21y.o. and then graduation at 23-24 years old.
Go NTU, you can skip semesters, 1 or 2 semesters but it depends on your poly results. Dip with merit would definitely get you a year off your 4 year uni course.
Go NUS, you exempted from 5 elective modules (for all poly students). Therefore that is equivalent to a semester, but it depends on yourself if you wanna spread your remaining modules over the 8 semesters (more slack) or 7 semesters (more xiong).
Go SMU or SIM... I dont know.
ouh.. alright.. thanks everyone for replying to the topic really, really appreciate it
finally, im being enlightened!
