The interview questions are quite random, but some of the questions they will definitely ask are :
1) Why do you want to be an allied educator?
2) What do you think makes you suitable for this job?
Questions which might come out :
1) Why do you not choose to be a teacher instead? ( Tricky Question )
2) Can you get along well with the students?
3) Do you think you are up for the job?

wow thanks for the info! are you serving as a AE now? do we need to take any test on the subject we express interests in on the interview itself? with the 1st round of interview conducted by the school, what's going to happen next if we pass the interview?

No, I am not a AE.
You do not need to take any tests on any subjects, so don't worry.
After you passed the interview, you will be sent for training, after which you will have to serve a minimum 1-year bond.

I thought the interview is conducted at MOE itself?
If it is conducted at MOE, you will face a panel of 3 really senior personnels.
And unfortunately, to this day, I still have no idea who they are.
They introduced themselves to me, but I was in such a state of flurry and panic that my mind didn't absorb that in.

I see, then the interview will be conducted by the Principal and likely at least one senior teacher.
That is the usual interview pattern for direct interviews in schools.
allied educators means what?

They are teachers' helpers in short.
There are mainly 3 types of AE - (Counselling), (Learning and Behavioural Support) and (Teaching and Learning).
(Counselling) - Counsellor in short. They also counsel teachers and other school personnels too. The difference from the other 2 is that you will require a degree for this position.
(Learning and Behavioural Support) - They help out in teaching children with special needs, such as autism and dyslexia. Some might take up Dip ( Special Ed ) to teach in schools catered to students with special needs after they finish their bond and is recommended by the principal.
(Teaching and Learning) - Assistant to teacher. If they perform well, they can be recommended by principals for teaching courses.
Does anyone know when will the next recruitment drive for allied educators (teaching n learning)?

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of applying for this position as well. However, I am a degree holder. Will MOE accept? Another qns would be, will the salary be higher because of my qualification?
Cheers,
ade

most likely the salary they offer will be based on your past working experiences and
most importantly previous experiences in teaching. I'm a degree holder as well and
am paid much lower than what my friends are taking in other industry.
