Hi Toheart89,
Have you been selected for the interview? It is more likely that you got rejected because of the interview rather than the failing of one of your modules.
As for which of the two to apply, I can't really say for you, as it is your own option. An interesting thing to note is that there are some individuals who become an Allied Educator in Teaching and Learning so as to get a good appraisal for them to enter NIE's degree courses. But with your results, I believe that you will actually stand quite a chance of entering NIE directly.
Cheers.
Hi Trueheart,
I dint received any calls from Nie asking me to go for interview, so can i apply AED when the recruitment exercise start and also at the same time apply for degree in education again next year?=)

Hi Toheart89,
It is alright to apply for the both of them. Just to ask, did you attempt to appeal through NTU when you failed to enter NIE's degree course?
Cheers.
Hi Trueheart,
Yes i did,and my friends all did the same thing, but we still dint manage to get in.we are all 3pointers.was wondering why we could nt get in.=( hais..ok!i will apply for AED and degree again next year!=)hope i can get in.so worried..was so disappointed when got rejected.
Hi Trueheart,

Hi Toheart89,
I cannot say for sure, but they will have a record of your previous application and appeal.
Cheers.

Hi Toheart89,
Applying for both doesn't put you in any form of disadvantage as compared to applying for only one. Thus, I will advise you to go ahead with your double application if you feel that teaching is truly the career for you.
As a side note, from what I have heard from a friend working in MOE, what the interviewers will be looking for will be passion and commitment, so you may wish to take this into consideration if you get selected for the interview this time round.
All the best to you for your applications.
Cheers.
Hi Trueheart,
Ok, and thanks for your advices once again!=)
All the best to you too!
Thank You!

Relief Teaching: http://www.moe.gov.sg/careers/teach/applying/relief-teaching/
That is the only kind of contract teaching for someone without teaching qualifications.
Thanks forbiddensinner, I hav alr applied for relief teaching and its successful but the schools i have contacted did nt give me any response, what should i do? And may i ask u if i teach in kindergarten will it help me to get in to Nie easier?
Regards,
Toheart89
Hi TrueHeart,
I've been accepted for the post of Allied Educator, but the contract length has increased from 2 to 4 years. Any idea why this may be?
Thanks
Caleb

Hi Toheart89,
Once you have successfully applied for relief teaching, you will have to wait for the school to contact you when they are in need of relief teachers. Sometimes you may not even get called up at all after a few months, as there are plentiful of relief teachers around.
Teaching in a kindergarten will not really give you any sort of advantage in entering NIE, unless the principal writes a special appraisal for you to show that you have the potential to teach children of higher education levels.
Cheers.

Hi Calebyek,
I am sorry as I have no idea why this is the case. You may wish to call up MOE to find out more about it.
Cheers.

Hi. Does anyone know how long before you know the results of your interview for an allied educator (teaching & learning) position? I went for the interview on the 1st of March in a primary school and it has been two weeks since I've heard anything from them. Any way to check on the status?

2 weeks isn't very long.![]()
Accept or reject, they will still inform you, so don't worry too much. For those taking dip/degree, some will tell you that they have waited for months for a reply. ![]()
Ah, I see. Thanks for replying. Any idea what mode of communication will they be using to inform of the outcome? Months?? wow, must have been an agonising wait.
hi, i recently applied for AED teaching and learning...i already went for the interview and got the clearance sms saying that i have cleared the interview..interview details will be furnished w.e.f 35 march and subj to approval. Does this means i already got the job? anybody in my position right now? PLS help...im worried. sick.
my friend had such interview last year. the question that they ask her are rather generic, like why you want to be a teacher. what are your hobbies, etc. i think moe is quite desperate for teachers, unless you show really bad attitute, they should want you.
yeah i already went for the interview. so im patiently waiting for the results. Any advice for me so far like will i get the job?
What other results do you need to wait for? I thought you mentioned about a clearance sms stating that you have cleared the interview?
