As Chen Bo zheng said, singapore actors/actresses are not dumb, why is there a need to rehearse so many times before playing the set.
IS KIA-SU-ism as a result of excellence in sinagapore's system and the love of comparison that leads to such common scenario.
We rehearse and rehearse again, as though the winds of excellence follow every where we go.
Is such a system too much for our own good? Is excellence too much of a left-brained dominated perspective of looking at education nowadays?
Are we mindlessly coping scripts after scripts, or the system of regurgitating lecture notes ( students know what i mean) that we sometimes, forget that there is like a forgotten need to accomodate what we once children had called dreams and aspirations. in class, we should pehaps allow students to have their own time, and ponder, and daydream like they could once did in ease as a child. After all, its their own life and the inherent dream each and every one of us had before as a child should not be neglected or held more important than the society''s designed path for you.
Or in the case of media, isn''t it important for self-expression instead of just rehearsing scripts over scripts. I feel in this culture of excellence (that was deemed right and thus instilled in us since young) may have neglected the need for radiant thinking, otherwise known as creative thinking.
below posted is a website by a spiritual master on the benefit of true silence with daydreaming in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_ZesowLm4Q&feature=related
sorry i mean zeng guo cheng in celebriTea Break 2
too much excellence and too little competition.
Ironically, some ppl fare better in rehearsals than actual performances.
with trust it makes the job 10 times easier seriously. trust yourself
yeah... a lot of "excellence" here in the system including the one at the top of the system.
too many excellence is focused and sometimes in the pursuit of it, we miss out that life is natural and meant to be simple like giving etc instead of emphasising in endless perfections. seriously. its such a mind-boggling fad, everything must be perfect till what ends? so what if you got the best in this and that, the world continues to suffer, the enivornment continues to deteriorate and nothing's changed in general sense. Beneath the path of excellence, we should instead look into our natural states like peace , joy and love. This goes in line with excellence, because if you add these objectives, excellence becomes natural too instead of an endless striving that materialize what in the end? more money, reputation. yuck.
