On 23 Aug 2009 12.25 am, while the authorizing officer from Ministry of Environment were taking down particulars on Smoking (Prohibition in certain places) Act in 150 Orchard Road Orchard Plaza in front of #05-12, a guy smoking on a pipe liked cigarette with smoke exhaled from him walked pass the group of officers of approximated 4-5 in a distance of less then 1 meter. And no action was taken.
Feeling puzzled, asked one of the officer. And we were told that it was an electric cigarette and is not an offence. Having doubts if as per claimed by the officer smoking “electric” cigarette is not an offence in prohibited places. Does it indicate smoking “electric” cigarette in library, school, offices ..etc is not an offence? My friends and me were puzzled.
lest i am mistaken, electric cigarettes release only water vapor as its waste, so it should be fine in most places.
eh, u sure abt dis?
wat abt its import?
i think its just a grey area now. parliament will put into place a law if it is not in place yet.
just go google the name 'electric cigarette'...
