How To Promote Mandarin

In my opinion there should be more slangs, expressions, jokes, etc.
This way Mandarin can replace dialects and Singlish.
I have a feeling Mandarin have not really taken off because it was teached and applied too rigidly.
So some ideas, jokes, expressions, slangs, scoldings, etc, will have to use dialects or Singlish.
So I think to promote Mandarin usage, it is necessary to think up creative and catchy Mandarin expressions, especially for local Singapore context.
What do you think?

English still takes precedence over Mandarin.

Even if LKY said that we can automatically gain english in his campaign of promoting Speak Mandarin at Home. How perfect can learning English get?
He said: 'If you want your children to master Mandarin, speak to them in Mandarin. Don't worry about them learning English.

difficulty in mastering working-level English. However, if parents speak in English
to their children at home, learning Mandarin will be a problem."(source).Seriously, i tried my best for my O's, and only get c6 for it... It's not that easy not speaking English at home.

Can give people a strong reason why we need to learn to speak and write better Mandarin?
Suggestion:
Improve the quality of the chinese spoken on TV by tcs.

no matter...if u really interested in learning a language, u would learn it no matter what. Just like dialects and japanese

mandarin is not to replace dialects
itself is a dialect, the beijing dialect, which become the widely accepted "chinese" all over the world
language shd never be for replacing other languages, whether official or colloquial
it's called mother tongue for a good reason -

i mean just like some people who took trouble to master their dialect or the japanese language even though they are not mandatory in their schools -

I think we should learn Japanese in schools as Japan is second largest economy in world. Why our schools never teach?
