China's South China Mall is Disneyland, Las Vegas and Mall of America rolled into one. There are carnival rides, mini-parks, canals and lakes amid classic Western-style buildings with space for hundreds of shops.
Looks promising? but look at the video and you see....

A very interesting video. Everyone should watch it....
i didn't mean to turn this to politics but here is what i read......
April 17 (Bloomberg) -- The world's largest shopping center looks almost deserted on a recent afternoon. While schoolchildren ride the sidewinder and roller coaster, there are few shoppers and fewer tenants at South China Mall in central Dongguan, a city of 6 million north of Hong Kong.
``They did this mall all wrong,'' says Stephen Liu, a Hong Kong businessman visiting clients in Dongguan who came by to see the place for himself. ``They never found out if there were enough people to fill it. All the Chinese in this town are factory workers, they can't afford to shop here.''

i am more on nature, shopping is unlike me,..imagine u go so far to shop where u can have it in joo chiat, parkway or even orchard, the purpose of travelling is to see different culture, enjoy the scenery, eat different foods and visit places of interest and historical value. Go shopping??/ only for aunties, not me ya.
unfortunately it is another of China's I-can-do-better-than-you syndrome.....

wha lau, that is a different issue mah...tho i go travelling, but i make sure i see my own country first before i go off. And usually when i go for a holiday, i am under the invitation of frens from internet or former classmate or frens i know...most likely i will stay with them a while, see their real culture, eat with them and maybe on day in the city.

Why would this be politics? Seems more like a bad business decision.
