Hi. I am from UK and have been a victim of fraud from a company in Singapore. I need some help in tracing someone and also contact details of where I can put in a complaint in to. I have lodged a complaint with the police but they say it is civil and would have to take him to court. UK police say it is fraud. and we are not taking a small sum either. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks
What kind of help...?
Anything that might just give me a glimmer of hope. Firstly I need to find out a home telephone number from an address which I have however I believe now he is known under two names.
Also where I can complain to about about bad business practice.
And how the law works in singapore. Police in singapore say it is civil matter but I dont agree and want to contest this, but police being very slow in communicating with me. It is like they are not interested or possibly got much better things to do with theor time.
Bad business practice....yes under some kind of costumer protection association....
Or maybe Good Business Association...
Im not sure the exact names of the organizations though (maybe someone else here can help)
I think mostly it's just a "reputation" sanction/ punishment under those conditions....
And if the police is not going to pursue the matter, I think probably you cannot do that unless if you sue the company yourself and engage your own lawyer to do that.
Telephone, I think you can try this:

If you are interested to engage more professional help regarding your dispute maybe you can also hire a PI (Private Investigator) and you can google some for those.

u should gather all evidents such as documents etc...and bring to a lawyer back in UK. If claims are involved they should be able to let you know your option.
My attorney In Los Angeles had a client that had bad experience with a local Singapore company whom without authorization registered a US product in China. - as a Patent. when the Singapore company has no authorization to distribute in China.
TS don't have too high hopes..![]()
... lolx... ur english for a person from UK is abit off...
Nv even explain the fraud situation... More concerned abt tracing/tracking a telephone number via address... Btw, this is a forum... not a question and answer site...
yea. u should explain what's going on before anyone here can help you at all. a timeline would be useful.
Well, if it was a case worthy of serious legal action, then any reputable law firm in the UK will give you good advice on how to proceed.
Plus they might have connections to a local law firm or have a branch in singapore.
But that's only if the amount you want to recover is significant enough to engage a lawyer.
Either way, you will need a lawyer to help you one way or the other. ![]()
By civil case the police means you'll have to take your own legal actions, like sue for breach of contract.
If you want to go for fraud, it is then it would be a criminal case. The police would then have to gather enough facts for a prosecution. You have to come over here and make a police report, and present as much evidence as possible, for them to assess if there is a case. Then they will proceed with their own investigation, if at all. Most likely they will advise you again to go civil, in order for you to recover your money.
As a criminal case, the fraudster will be punished if the case is proven, but won't be compelled to return your money.
