Take MC???
Any funny excuses you have given for taking the day off to go for interviews elsewhere?
take AL, time off, medical appointment, mc, dental appointment, parenthood leave, etc.
pick yr poison..
Marco: Boss i need to take leave for tomorrow.
Boss: do you know you need to give 2 weeks notice?

Boss: what is it?
Marco: My grandmother getting engage la.
Boss: Find a better reason.
Marco: ok, i go interview
Boss: what interview?
Marco: job interview la.
Boss: Why here not good ar, must leave?
Marco: i dun know lay.
Boss: ok go, go any vacancy for me, ask me to join you.

Marco : Boss, I need to take leave tmr.
Boss : why?
Marco : My gf getting married.
Boss : Congrats.
Marco : She is getting married but not with me.
Boss : .....
-> See, sure approve your leave. haha
If lets say you have a number of interviews scheduled for a week, isnt it a bit fishy if you take half days often for the week?
which is more important, the job interview or finding means for the interview?
go figure...
when you have the answer, your excuse will follow
if you dare, quit and find job

take different kind of leave loh.
i took 3 days when i was going for 3 different interviews on the same wk, used MC, AL n time-off.
MC - went to the doc in the morning to get mc, then afternoon go for interview.
time-off - called n informed my mgr that I need to clear them becos they are expiring.
AL - called n informed my mgr that i was working till 2am today hence need to take AL to sleep at home.
macro : boss, im going for a job interview tomorrow because working for u sucks..
boss : ........

If you are not honest to your current boss, why should the other boss hire you?
Based on your honesty? Or lack thereof? ![]()
theres no such thing as being honest to ur boss
In the first place , is ur boss honest to u?
LoL
wat are half-day leaves and time -offs for?
or u can arrange lunchtime
sometimes they oso let u come after office hours

See the irony of it all?
Companies want people who are honest and have high integrity to work for them.
But employees won't tell the boss the truth about going for other job interviews because they know "honesty" doesn't pay.
Go figure. ![]()

It's probably the same for relationships too.
Being too honest sometimes doesn't get you anywhere. ![]()
Err... just a few thoughts I had:
So in the scenario as in the topic title,
we should just be honest and tell the interviewer "Yes i am currently working somewhere else" ...?
But then he'll sure ask "Why you wanna leave the current job", right? Haiz.
but anyway just don't badmouth your current company in any way lah.
Oh, and probably don't ever say "I took MC to come here interview" is a good idea ![]()
say you took AL or timeoff or something.
Finally... interviewer won't mind that im "trying to jump ship from another company", will he...? I guess sgporeans must be all quite realistic/practical abt these things, huh...
take half day leave.
if the company calls you the nite before the interview, call in the morning to tell your boss you need to take urgent leave.

but you tell me what else can he or we do?
If the company gives ample notice on the interview date and time we can always apply for leave in advance, if not tell me what can we do but to take urgent leave??

Say you want to try a different environment. It's part of your personal life adventure.
