Wondering is our nation really care about their elder citizens?
At what age do the nation consider the elderly as senior citizens?
Everyday one can see many elderly taking public transport, some going to work, some going about doing daily chores etc..When elderly people still has to work it means that most likely they need the money for various reasons.Likely they may not hold good paying jobs and thus travel on public transport.
On this how many of these elderly are given real concessions to travel on public tranports?I doubt the concessions are forthcoming as many related that their travelling on public transport have restrictions.May I ask the gov why is that so?
Having have to work at a late age is already a bogey and having to pay normal rate for public transport is a double whammy. When an elder working person paying normal rate this will certianly eats into his daily wage thus will have a lower take home pay.
Public transport operators spent millions on their maintenance and upgrading of systems no reason for them for not being able to allocate some funds for giving unrestricted concessionary rides for our elder citizens to help them cope with their daily lives.
We must bear in mind that our elder citizens contributed alot to this nation with their blood, sweat and tears so that our present set of leaders are able to draw exorbitant exorbitant salaries.
Therefore, we must exert pressure our government to get the public transport operators to immediately accede to this or else there's no purpose in supporting this government.
