Can you be a White person?

Just spotted this thread in an expat forum. Worth reading because although it's very sensitive, it's damn true. Makes White people sound almost like Nazis.

Under what circumstances can someone be considered caucasian?
Whenever a person has one parent who is white, and one who is another race, they are ALWAYS without exception, considered to be essentially the same race as the non white parent.Examples include Barack Obama, Tiger Woods, Lewis Hamilton, Maggie Q Denise Keller.
Given that one parent is white, you'd think there's a 50/50 chance of being considered white.
But it NEVER happens.
You might say that well, they dont the same as a pure white person, do they?
That's true.
But they also do not look like pure African or Asian either.
So why are they always considered to be the "other" race, never white?
I mean,, it's a 50/50 chance, right?
But no.
It seems being 50% Caucasian isnt good enough to be Caucasian, but it is enough to make it as an Asian or African.
What is so special about being white that means you have to be pure caucasian to be considered caucasian?
I expect someone will say- let's just call them mixed, or Eurasian. That's fine, since they are. But that's really trying to avoid the question:

Italians, Portugese, Russians, Greek, Spanish etc., would the so called whites call them whites.

it's all about appearances aint it. The examples you gave, barack obama etc. They just don't look like a white, be it their skin tone, their eyes, hair colour, facial structure etc. if the 50/50 chance person happens to get the stronger gene of the white parent and looks pretty much like a white upon a glance then jiu lucky lo. the above ppl, just don't look as white lo
