for the past few months, i've cut down my SGF posting and gaming time, and been working very hard at drawing (art) and have seen a tiny bit of improvement.
my original plan is to keep practicing this craft so that when ITE's Nitec in Digital Media Design course opens in Jan 2010, i'll be able to absorb those art stuff faster.
now then i realize ITE phased out this course, meaning it's no longer available for new students (maybe due to low intake).
now i feel so lost.....my plans got hit by drastic change. i dunno what to do....haiz....
if anyone knows of any schools in SG that offers courses that teaches those fine arts aspect and equip you with skills required to work in graphics / creative / illustration industry, pls let me know.
those Laselle, First Media Design School and Otis college (spelling) are really expensive and mostly full-time, and it's impossible for me. Somemore, Laselle requires me to have portfolio which i don't (i just starting to learn art how to have respectable portfolio?).
I'm now looking at ISDT as their rates are cheaper and they got offer part-time, but really not sure if this is for me.
1 yr Diploma = S$5000 and
1yr Adv Diploma = S$5000
pls advise; no jokes pls.
NAFA is the one.
Nanyang Academy of Fine Art(s). That is the place
thanks all!
NAFA is good but their part time courses are all individual short courses and not those complete diploma types.
I don't know about NAFA's part time courses. Those NAFA grads I know of took full time course there.
thanks! i've decided to go to ISDT. at least better than MDIS and PSB by a long shot when it comes to similar courses.
btw, heard that Vkitty is suing u? why so serious? :-O
You'll get very little out of just a year's study when it comes to art practice, and it's even worse when it's just part-time studies... Unlike cellphone accessories, this isn't something you should scrimp on.
thanks baba, but i think this is good for a start.
i was thinking to go finish this 1 year course, then go on to their adv dip, then maybe further my studies from there, and all the while, keep on drawing and practicising at home, go art forums, read books, DVDs etc., should be ok in 5 years time (5 yrs = a timeline i set for myself).
at least by then, my standard should be better than the average poly grad? :-D
now working full-time cannot take full-time course, otherwise i can prepare to be professional beggar on streets.
even after all that grief we've given you, hey.. good luck and i hope you find your way in this..

What specifically are you looking to do ?
Concept artist, 3D related..?
thanks for the links, meltz! that sheridan global thing looks promising; will check it out.
@ Stevenson 101: i'm looking at courses which focus heavily on drawing and illustration , as i aim to be an illustrator / concept artist. not really into the 3D field.
if nothing, then multimedia is the next closest thing.
UPDATE: I checked out the sheridan website but it seems they haven't built the campus in SG yet. i've e-mailed them to confirm.

too bad the FZDS only has full-time wor. ;)
I'm also interested to study multimedia, then I've tried to contact First Media Design School and it's a good news that they have part time studies. I've heard that they have a good management and the teaching method is hands on and industry based, also the assistant there are very hospitable and friendly.. hope I can passed their interview.. :-)

Portfolio interview? Of how many works?
They dont really required any portfolios but if you have one it will be beneficial for you since if ur works are good they can give exemptions.
Also, they have this short test after the registration. Im excited to start on January!!
