I was at City Square (near Serangoon Road) the other day and saw a recycling machine inside the NTUC Fairprice. It collects empty drink cans and will dispense 1 ticket for each can inserted. For every 5 tickets, you can exchange for a free can of soft drink!
I'm sure the return is much better as compared to selling it to the recycling company direct. The auntie and uncles could sell the drinks for 1 dollars to tourists. I think this should be introduced to more outlets as it is also good for the environment.
oh, the FP open liao ah
i going there some time this week, i will go kopitiams and fight for empty cans 2nite
this is the machine!

Good, I hope I no longer need to see those aunties and uncles crushing empty drink cans for money.
But I dont think they will use it, unless if someone tell them.....
Assuming that if it is 80 cents a can, there would slightly reduce the overall cost for consumer to 66 .7 cents per can and a savings of 79.8 cents, nearly a dollar for half a dozen.
wa so good~ now can collect empty cans for softdrinks liao~ lol...
5 drink cans for a drink?
I am quite skeptical, this translates to $0.10 for an empty can. ![]()
The uncle I pass my drink cans for recycling tells me it's around $0.10 for 10 cans. ![]()
the machine is here for a trial only.. will be gone soon.. heard also got 2 more in singapore..
FYI, 5 empty cans for 1 new can is a very good deal. works out to be about 17cents for every old can u give..
recycling.. 30 cans make up 1 kilo make up around $1.50 plus the trouble to find the karang guni

Fyi,its roughly 60 empty cans to make up 1kg.
And the price now is $1 for 1kg.
