Hi guys , i wanna ask if nitec in applied food science is a good course to take in ite? from there then i wanna progress to temasek poly for their course in applied food science & nutrition. I wonder is it a good choice to study this course. Need lots of advise. And is it hard to get gpa 3.5 for this course? and yeah i wanted to take nitec in culinary skills but i think this nitec cert dun get you to poly , so yeah i think i will go for nitec in applied food science , which i am also quite interested in. thx guys.
First of all, are you interested? (in this subject?)
Oh, and in ITE, you need both good practical and theory to get around that range. I've been there before
hmm , yeah quite interested though. Are you from applied food science also?
you're a previous N level or O level student?
N level. But i have adv dip in sports management. its a pte cert. and i dun think is recognise. so i rather go ite and study then from there go poly.
number 1 route to go poly of course is to take O levels if it's possible. but i think it's not for you right? hmmm, ite is another not so bad route luh, can try out though.

icic , may i ask how come when i go the ite website , i checked some courses , but some dosen't get you to poly after the 2 years? and u nid to take higher nitec then from there only u can go poly. then like waste 2 more years there. i wanted to go for culinay skills , but the progression studies there only put proceed to higher level. They nv put proceed to poly year 1. But applied food science have.

u see.. even if i go the o lvl route. I also need 2 years to go for my pte Os. And i dun think i can study that much. What if i fail? waste time and money. I rather go ite , at least got nitec cert. Hands on. and more easier to go poly from there. Its 2 years also.
but anyway guys , i am still in ns. 10 more months to ord , so i have this 10 months to think it over.

for cases like engineering, you need A Maths, some can't, while some can because they make the effort to catch up.
Engineering not recommended, but others shouldn't be a problem

i am not sure if thats true, but you can take O level at ITE (they provide the facility, the tutors are from MOE, all subsidized)
i am planning to take O levels from there

why you think you can't (go into poly?)
If can you can retake your O's

well, this is the way ite works.
that is why i dont kinda fancy going onto poly when im in ITE, i've got no motivation at all to do well in ITE.
when ppl like me fail to meet poly requirements by a few points, they throw me to ITE, claiming that it's another bridge that will lead me to poly, true, no doubts about that.
but bear in mind that, entering a higher nitec course with the mindset of going onto poly will take you 5 years of hardwork instead of the 3 years to reach that diploma. fail O levels? that's your punishment.
ITE is like that, if 1 out of 10 students in ITE excel, they will create headlines with it. telling you, see see, ITE also can make it.
but the bottomline is still of course, i failed O, and i'm a poly reject.

Why don't you retake your O'levels instead of going to ITE?
Don't you know that you will be looked down upon by your Singaporean peers if you really went to ITE?
I also don't think it's really that impressive of going to poly or Singapore universities until my silicons are going to burst like that.
The world is so big out there, but if you have already think of Singapore as your entire world, then you really do live and think in a small scale.
Don't you know that Singapore is not only just a trading port with good geographic location, but it's also a great port for exporting you to other countries if you had that desire.
No ambition to venture outside of Singapore? Maybe you really studied too hard already ...
