Hi guys, I've come across an article about Ming dynasty being Muslim and liked your opinions about this>
The points was make by a Taiwanese chinese muslim who cited the wife of Zhu Yuanzhan who's a muslim and his close association with Muslims like Cheng Ho and the rest.
I don't think Zhu Yuan Zhang was a muslim, although Zheng He was a muslim.
Article neglected to mention that the Ming emperors did eat pork and the imperial kitchen did cook pork for its royalty. However, many senior officials are muslims and thus have seperate food and drink served during imperial banquets.
He got a lot of help from chinese Muslim generals during the uprising and overthrowing of the mongols .Hence it's not improper to say that that Ming dynasty was founded with Muslims support
Ming sect(jia) a secret society he belonged was a persian originated religion,
摩尼教

Never heard of this, but ok.

That's like people saying Barack Obama has some Muslim family members
(which he does) and has an Arabic name, therefore, he must be a Muslim!
Moving on.

If Zhu Yuanzhang was a Muslim, it would have been painfully obvious in
court records. For example, where are the records stating that he made
periodic prayers towards Mecca during each day of his rule? Or that he
was a proponent of Sharia Law in the Ming law code? Aside from the weak
argument about wine which sounds coincidental.

I've never read any scholar's work mentioning that she was a Muslim, and I've read a good amount of works on the Ming Dynasty.

The association of each dynasty with a color and Wu Xing 五行 phase has
nothing to do with Islam, but has everything to do with Chinese
cosmological theory. Once again, a phony argument.
Quote
Praises and admittance of Islam were also made by Tang, Song, and Yuan
emperors too; does that make them Muslim? Again, a phony argument that
is used to fit someone's agenda.
Quote
You do realize that this occurred under the reign of Yongle, not Hongwu? Just to clear that up.
Quote
Are you kidding me? So did the Tang, Song, and Yuan before them. Again,
does this make the Tang, Song, and Yuan emperors somehow Muslim? These
arguments are so pathetic!
Quote
That is an absurd argument, considering how the Ming used Guo
Shoujing's 13th century calendar (i.e. 授時曆), and by the early 17th
century, reformed their calendar due to European influence of the
Gregorian Calendar at the Ming court.
I think this thread should be closed, along with threads that say the
outerspace aliens built the Egyptian pyramids or that Big Foot roams
the American northwest or that a sea monster lurks in Loch Ness,
Scotland.
Just a thought,
Eric

Anyway so what if Ming emperors are muslims, but coming back to keep this a royal family secret from the chinese masses is no simple feat too.

They were not muslims. No historical record of them being muslims.
Maybe a da vinci code style of chinese version in the pipeline...secret codes and hidden history?

One thing I despise is conspiracy bullshit.
Like to point out that chinese people are not really religous types, guess it's the culture live and let live and Zhong yong(moderation) way of living. So even if you belong to any religions , as a chinese one is probably low key and do not fuss much over it...just my thought

Chinese are more influenced by buddhist/Taoist/Confucianist tradition I think.
