got see the tv ad?
call lawyer
Prepare for the worse... the case is gonna be push here and there and still never end...
Stomp them!
Get a good lawyer.
You are up against the Town Council, HDB and the contractors. You are no match against their combined brain power to negotiate.
They will generously agree to pay all your medical expenses, just to shut you up. If you want to sue for more, then you need a good lawyer, to counter their vile-ness.
thanks all for your advice. the relevant parties offered only $2000 for damage claims. my friend has decided to recruit a lawyer

Town councils are fast in getting people pay bills but come to helping residents handle problem is a different thing
must create headlines with that matter then town council will scare
normally the contractor would have bought public liabilities and worksman compensation insurance. he should be able to claim back all his medical cost. However if he needs to claim losses such as suffering, unable to work, etc. He need to sue TC as well as the contactor and prepare all medical record etc to proceed.
1) Get a good lawyer.
2) Accept the compensation.
3) Ask for higher compensation.

contractors are not con. however they are no sitting duck too. frankly, they are covered with insurance so you are against the insurance, not them. You have to prove that it is their neligence etc. Shld your friend trepass a worksite, then the cases would be different.

Yes, seek legal advice first.
If the $$ is too little for compensation, dont accept.
There wasn't any safety net so the accident is definitely caused by the negligence. i asked TC what their role is on this incident, they said they are monitoring the process. but i don't think they are in control.. a lawyer told us he has s a similar case which his client is paralyze. My friend (a foreign worker) has since gone back home and before he left, he wants me to be careful as SG is never a safe place to stay for him ...sigh....
Oh dear, when involved in govt sector, it will drag and drag.....

questions:
1. Is your friend a passerby or a worker on site?
my friend is an unlucky passerby
Take pictures on the spot, ask the contractor to foot the medical bills.
If not, sue the contractor to court under small claims tribunal. =)
