i would like to noe...
wads the outcome of the forum owner stand...
let say will the forum owner give the details of the user that posted the defamation words?
coz recently i got myself into a problem..
i posted online tat someone did something to me..
and now he wanna sue me for defamation too...

When times are bad, Singaporean people will start sueing each other for their money. (Divorce/Defamation)
IF you think you are going to lose alot of money to him, then why don't you go and kill him and his family since you're going to lose anyway?
I think it sounds like a fair and calculative deal to me.
OR you can give him your money and continue to live the rest of your lives as a coward.

oh...recently i bought something online from someone..
and tat someone promise to return me a part of tat thing...
but he kinda run away..
so i uploaded his details and my story to a forum...
and he saw it and he wanna sue me for defamation and invasion of privacy...
any advice?

If he still have not returned you that part of that thing.
Its still not defamation.
But uploading his details while you did not upload any of your details.
Thats argu-able as spreading malicious gossip aka defamation.
He can request for you to take down the details.
But he cannot claim defamation. Not yet.
And invasion of privacy? Where did you get his details from?

but they tot it's no big deal bcos it's the net
tts exactly the big deal bcos it's such a convenient channel to vent some frustrations
and it stays in cyberspace for a long time....even if u delete, it's oredi logged....

i have the sms to prove that he claim he wana return me that thing...
but he didnt...
and my fren can stand in as a witness coz he contacted him and he reply..when i contacted him he ignore...
and my msn is blocked by him while my fren he accepted...
yeah...
but i posted his name details and photo..
so i now very scare..
like that is like maybe will get me into alot of trouble..

If its true. U dont have to worry. Keep the evidence. lTo sue u for telling the truth ? Thats not how the justice system works. lol

Whats done is done.
Your current to do now. Is to take down the name and details. Treat it as something you are doing out of goodwill.
And insist that he return you what he promised to. Or at least let him work out a compromise to return the whatever he promised to you in kind.
And if he persist on threatening you with legal proceedings or at least already filed the legal proceedings. Just go to any decent lawyer and take their advise from there.

bcos it's a free-for-all forum (i presume)
forum owner not involved in encouraging tt person to cheat u or wat, so it's just between u and him
in fact, i always delete threads whereby ppl just reg to post their sob story with ppl's info and pic
the point is to create damage by spamming all over and wanting a lotta ppl to know about it, but then i personally think a forum shd be treated with respect and not a personal venting ground -

lol... Privacy... the only problem u worry is posting full details. But u can always mitigate ur risk by just posting... his name...or u want to pay lawyer to get his ass ? haha
Anyways u no money... he sue u.. get nada. Then u sue him back for breach of trust, unconscionable bargain.. all that good stuff... n make him cream his panties.

Just wait for the letter.And receive that so called lawyer letter or court letter, then you get a lawyer to advise you.
Otherwise, no point worrying yourself to it.
Do not offer to private settlement with whatever money you think you or others advise you to give. Not without at least going thru the lawyer or take the advise from the courts.

Even if the case is genuine.
Whats done is done.
Learn from it, and be more prudent in future. Making a futher ass of yourself will not serve to help you in this matter.
Anyway, the person in question, might not even be looking for private settlement of $$$.

u counter sue him la. If that ass give u lawyer letter.. what is stopping u from doing the same to him for going back on his promise? Promissory estoppel man! U obviously have given him ur consideration.

I am not in favour of seeing anyone being bullied, espacially young adults.
1. You have the right to seek redress for what happened to you, espacially if you can back up your claims.
2. Posting photos and information relating to your problems are only evidences to substantiate the claims you are making in public view.
3. The other person too have a right to defend himself, and if he wants, he can seek legal counsel for advice or proceed to sue you in a court of law. This right does not AUTOMATICALLY means he will win in a case.
4. Furthermore, defamation cases are long drawn and costly, up to thousands of dollars. Therefore, if you put up photos and information and presume you are right, then challenge him in face off in court, for he is in the wrong, he may even have to pay for every cent of your legal cost.
5. NEVER be afraid of a lawyer letter. That piece of paper is meant only to frighten you, in the hope that you will be stupid enough to back off, apologise, because most people are not aware of their rights and want no trouble, espacially if what they seek is small compared to the court action that may loom.
At most, they can only tell you to remove the post as a first stage. It would have already serve its purpose anyway, so taking it off is no shame, and continue to ignore other threats, by engaging in a lawyer to brief you on your rights and your options next.
There are free legal counsel you can turn to, offered by community serving lawyers.
6. Should the other party proceeds with legal action, have no fear, stand your ground as long as you think you are right, and battle it out. The other party will have more to lose. No one goes to jail in civil suits or have anything attached to their personal records. You may even put fear back into the other party to back out and reach for a private settlement with you.
7. At this current stage, you SHOULD NOT settle for private settlement and be bullied or even blackmailed for more inducement for the other party to stop legal action. Keep track of all correspondences he sends to you, avoid all meetings and engage a lawyer to represent you. Tell him to talk to your lawyer.
But if you are a student, and don't want anymore trouble, and had removed the pics and info, then there is nothing more to fear. You had done your job to blacklist him and made others beware of him. Walk away. Chances are you are unlikely to get the property you seek from him anymore. A lesson learnt in excercising trade.
If he wants trouble, either you report to the police or send him a legal letter instead. Nothing to fear, buds, so long as you know your rights. Next time, be smarter and leave no trace. Conpersons must not be tolerated or be allowed to misuse justice to serve their despicable ends by frightening others.
