hi all,
am buying a mustek A3 scanner from the US (they don't sell this in SG), but i heard that in the US, the voltage / power plug they use is different from ours.
the voltage they use is 120V while in SG, we use 230 V.
i contact the seller and he says "three prong US plug but the power supply is 110 and 220 VAC. you will need an adapter for your 2 plug type".
I believe "three prong" = "3-pin plug"? And since he says power supply is 110 and 220, then SG is 230, means cannot already?
pls advise!
The US three prong does not shaped like the 3 pin plug in Singapore so you still need a converter for the power supply.
US 3 prong basically is a 2 vertical and 1 round point.
and make sure your converter can step down the voltage for your 110v electrical item.
The plug is not so imporant, you can change to our SG type.
If the voltage is 220 V, it is still can use in SG, SG uses 230V, the variation of 10V is OK. which means 220V or 240V still can use in SG
If you buy the 110V type, then you need to step up to 230 or 220/240V by a small transformer.
You can find this is Sim LimTower. (Not Sim Lim Square). Bring your item to the shop, they can make recommendation.
ok thk
use penknife. cut off the US plug. attach singapore type plug, twisting the copper in each wire together... insulate, and you are done. But the voltage, you will need adapter...
thanks a lot guys! especially to beggarchief for your helpful reply.
ok, here's the product: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250552210487&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
the specs says the following:
Universal Power Supply: Power Consumption 12VDC, 1.66A, 20W (Input: 100~120 VAC FOR U.S. and or 200~240 VAC, 50~60 Hz FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL LOCATIONS) - Comes with Universal Power Adapter 115 - 220 VAC 50-60 hertz
they got say "200 ~ 240 VAC", so that means it's ok? and that i just need to go Sim Lim Tower to get the right transformer?
because this whole thing costs over SGD$350....if buy here cannot use or got problems (such as very high electricity consumption or if the transformer itself costs another SGD$100++, then i die liao)
thanks.
