Just watched the latest eposide of my world my blog.
It talks about a young girl who likes music but her mother don't support her. After she graduate she start working but cannot concentrate on her work and got sacked after a few months.
Her good friend who also like music die of cancer.
So poor thing.
parents shld stop trying to control their kids. let them go with their passions. i've seen real-life victims of undue parental influence affecting the kids' career/life. they gotta waste so much time getting out of depression and getting back on track to what they want. time is precious. if the kid is enlightened to his misery and cause of misery at an older age, he may not be able to turn back the clock.
really depends on the background or influences of the parents. some parents are cautious of whether music can actually be a trusted profession with stable income. yes there are many examples of people making it big and good with music but not knowing to all of the many whom succeed ther are more whom failed. usually (but not all) the older geenration believe so lah.
but as kids they can always pursue their dreams as they grow. why she cannot concentrate on her work leh? can balance work and music at the same time. some things you don't have to do it full time. just like some people you don't have to marry them tto love them. love them in your heart and let them go. perhaps that's the best option?
Many parents want their kids to fulfill dreams that they themselves could not.

take over their business, stall, art etc etc...
likes music do what? she really likes music so that she only know enough to perform on stage - the glammer the attention? or she really wants to explore music at a higher level? a level where she can do it even without any instrument or voice? that's the highest level.
Let the children have their own vision and let them works towards their goals and hopefully be able to support himself thereafter.
Agreed with ACID. Family bussiness need to carry on.

ahhh... it was only my view on why parents wanted to their children to suceed them...
it's not my view that children have to be force to take over the family business >.<
Family biz are like that. Either children take over or close shop when parents are old. Depends on how children view it.
