I have some queries about what IDA Consumer Protection and CASE do on certain cases whereby it is not mentioned on their website.
I was verbally abused by a telemarketer from: -

It took me great length to find out the company's number as the telemarketer uses a different number 6534 4625.
The telemarketer called me and asked me to answer 4 question and I complied. She asked me if she should address me by my last name and i just en (meaning yes). And she continued by asking me just address me by my last name and I replied with 'en'. Straight away she swear at me (vulgarities) and slam down the phone. I was taken by surprised.
Firstly, how did they get my number? Secondly, she swore at me and slam down the phone when I didn't even do anything. I called service 100 and Singtel for help. They couldn't find the company's main line.
Anyway after much searching through the net, I found some info from forums which people had encounters with them. They are basically Time Share company or engaged by one.
I called the company and a senior staff picked up the phone, and I told her that one of her telemarketers swore at me. She asked me what time did I received the call and I told her and she straight away answered by saying that the girl has been sacked. I did not even give her the number of the telemarketer or my phone number. I asked her if this is Time Share and she said yes. Basically, she kept telling me that the girl has been sacked even before I called for her own convenience. Guess what happened in the end when I tried to reason with her that I just need her to tell the girl to call me and apologize and that I know how Time Share works. All I need is just an apology. She hung up on me. I called back 2 times, she just did the same thing but the 2nd time she just pick up the phone and put it on a table.
Maybe to some of you is no big deal, but to me, it is an harassment. I was nice enough to agree to answer her questions since she said it is only 4 questions. The company itself acted in similar ways except no vulgarities were thrown at me.
Do IDA Consumer Protection and CASE help people with such cases? If they don't then more and more people will encounter the same thing. Our privacy (mobile number) are sold to them by unknown methods without our approval. I mean it is OK to receive such calls but it is the first time I was verbally abused. After calling the company, I know there is no where to turned to for help. Thus, I am seeking help and information from here.
