| Mandatory Death Penalty Abolition Forum at Substation on 6th March - Call for Support saynotomdp Yesterday, 05:52 PM | Report | |
Dear friends,
The mandatory death penalty in Singapore is an archaic and draconian
law that requires review and eventual abolition. To highlight this
issue, fellow NUS Law School students will be holding a forum on the
mandatory death penalty at the Substation from 2pm this Saturday, 6th
March.
Renowned lawyer and activist, M Ravi, currently defending death row
inmate, Yong Vui Kong, will be providing first-hand insights on why the
mandatory death penalty should be abolished and how to call for this
change. Please help spread the message around for a clear show of
support for the forum.
Say No to the MDP.
why advertise ? the death oso does not concern you. that guy just wanted to make money only, he succeed in defending the inmate he would build reputation or just climb another ladder up the stairs. all this kind of thing for own good. u are not even criminal why do this thing?
I dunno about this issue.
Its good to have mandatory death sentence sometimes.
Especially those who had murder others intentionally.
And those who knock down somebody and then fled the country (You know who right?).
I just wonder if the sentence has been too harsh, especially for those who smuggle drugs in... some had been forced to... or did not even know there were drugs because they were conned by others to do so. (such as old auntie asking you to cross customs when she is actually trying to use you to smuggle drugs in.. and this poor innocent and stupid person went to help)
But on the other hand, there are downsides, there are some cases sometimes where people are wrongly acquitted, only then to know that they have already been executed.
-REPEATED AND DELETED-
I think I should state my position here. I do not support having the forum but decided to advertise this here for discussion. I think it is a waste of time. If I'm free, I may consider going down there to give them my view on why I disagree. No point have a forum for discussion when all the attendees are of the same view. Must have alternative mah.
Please note that this event will not be held at The Substation.
Kindly contact the organisers of this event for more information.
I support death penalty especially in the case of murder.
I support death penalty for murders but death penalty not for drug traffickers. why because most casing drug traffickers are force to do it at their own will, so if the government want to stop illegal drug trade, the government should use the life imprisonment instead.
You are right!
