Maybe Sang Nila probaly see a fake lion -
lions are not native to this region, could be some chinese doing lion dance in the forest and was spotted by the javanese entourage...

like i said before if it was really Lion.....2 posibilities....
1) Escape from merchant ship....
2) hybrid.....Liger or Tiglon.....
I think option 1 is possible must check the log of those merchant to see what kind of cargo...if they came from Africa it is possible.

I am quite sure that Sang Nila Utama saw the Lion when he landed on the beach.Who says he was on a boat? I want to speak with him...

If he had seen a tiger (which he most probably did - tigers were indigenous to Singapore until they were hunted to local extinction) .....
