Just kidding... just strike 2 lines on the left top corner will do.
what's the purpose?
- to prevent it from being directly encashed
- must be deposited into a bank account

how does crossing a cheque prevents it from being directly encashed?
It is the bank's practise to only bank in cross cheques... you can ask them why they do that.
draw 2 parallel lines on the left top corner
I learnt it during my last job...
I learnt it from writting my first cheque years ago... ![]()
Sometimes you may notice cheques with the words ``not negotiable'', its exactly the same reason why cheques are crossed. Its actually for security purposes, that the cheque payable is only to be encashed thru the bank.
